SOL Tracker
Frequently Asked Questions

Summary:

When starting the program, I get the following message:

There is a problem with one or more database references.  SOL Tracker will not operate properly until these references are fixed.  Please contact your SOL Tracker Administrator or Technical Support for assistance.  You should quit SOL Tracker now.

Do you wish to exit SOL Tracker?

Details:

This can happen either when necessary referenced files (i.e.; dll's, ocx's) are not properly installed and registered with the system when SOL Tracker is installed, or if you have both the full and runtime versions of Access XP installed simultaneously.

If you already have the full version of Access XP installed, you do not need to install the runtime version.  The runtime version is for customers that do not have the full version, and allows you to run the SOL Tracker software.   Removing the runtime and rebooting should fix the problem.

If do not have both the full and runtime versions of Access XP installed, it may be that some necessary referenced files were not installed properly.  You can detect the presence of these files by using the SOL Tracker Reference Snoop Utility that is included on the SOL Tracker installation CD in the REFSNOOP folder.  Follow these instructions:
  1. Browse to the REFSNOOP folder on the SOL Tracker installation CD and copy both files there to the SOL Tracker program folder (by default C:\Program Files\SOL Tracker 4\).
  2. Browse to the SOL Tracker program folder and run the REFSNOOP.EXE file by double-clicking on it.
  3. By default, the Windows System path is set to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\.  However, you should verify this.  On Windows 2000 and XP, this path is often C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\.  If necessary, change this path in the SOL Tracker Reference Snoop Utility.
  4. If SOL Tracker is installed to a different location, change that within the utility too.
  5. Click on the Action menu, then the Check References menu item.
  6. The information that appears in the text window displays information for the files that are referenced by the program.  Look through this list.  If you see any FILE NOT FOUND messages, it is likely that some files were not properly installed onto your computer.  However, it could also be that you incorrectly specified the system path in step #3.  Please verify that.  Some files may specify UNKNOWN for the version.  However, if they report that then they are indeed installed.  If you do encounter FILE NOT FOUND messages, please contact your SOL Tracker Administrator or Technical Support for more assistance.  You can also copy and paste the text from this utility into a text document and email it to Technical Support.
