Summary:
| |
After downloading and
installing the upgrade from the web, the installation program asks if I want
to reboot the system. When I choose YES, nothing happens. Do I
need to reboot? |
Details:
| |
This can happen on computers
with Windows 2000, and is a flaw in the third party installation program
that we use (and thus out of our control to fix). A reboot is required
after upgrading the software, or you may encounter low memory related
problems, like graphics not showing up or error messages from the system
related to low resources. If clicking YES does not automatically
reboot your system, you should reboot it manually through the Windows Start
menu before running the program. No permanent damage will be done if
you do run the program immediately after installing it, but the program may
not function properly until you reboot.
Note that if you do run the program without rebooting, and need to use Task
Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) to end it due to the error messages, remember to
compact the Program File prior to running it. You should
always perform this task if the program ends abruptly. |
